UK February Nationwide house price index m/m -0.3% vs +0.1% expected

Latest data released by the UK Nationwide Building Society — 1 March 2018

  • Prior m/m +0.6%; revised to +0.8%
  • House price index +2.2% y/y vs +2.6% expected
  • Prior y/y +3.2%

Delay in the data release by the source.
A slight miss on residential prices for the month, though again it’s a light data point. Nothing major to shake things up. The average residential house price is £210,402 from the report, down from £211,756 in January.
Cable is up to 1.3765 currently, as the dollar weakens a little across the board. EUR/GBP is at 0.8867, still tightly bound while GBP/JPY is near highs at 147.00.
