Poloz to testify at Finance Committee at 1930 GMT
Is he too hawkish or too dovish?
Back-to-back interest rate hikes are unprecedented in a developed economy in the post-crisis era. They were seen as a signal of confidence in the economy from Poloz, if not fears of inflation rising too quickly.
That set off a firestorm of criticism.
A month later he pulled an about-face by holding rates and delivering a dovish statement.
Now, former Bank of Canada Governor David Dodge is a critic, saying that Poloz is too cautious and needs to hike.
«If we think we are actually growing at about the capacity of the economy and are pretty much balanced, then indeed we should have rates that are higher than they currently are,» Dodge told Bloomberg.
