NZ Q4 2017 GDP: 0.6% q/q (vs. expected +0.8%)

Economic growth data from New Zealand for the final quarter of 2017
A miss, NZD marked down
0.6% q/q

  • expected +0.8% q/q, prior +0.6%

2.9% y/y

  • expected +3.1% y/y, prior +2.7%

Yep, a miss on expectations and Q4 q/q level pegging with the Q3 result. Don’t forget folks, this is data for the end of 2017 ….  3 months ago. Indicators at the time had been showing a wee wobble for the NZ economy but since have been back on the improve.Still, it is what it is  and the New Zealand dollar has been marked a little lower (hey, at least its not bitcoin, amiright?)

I’ll get a bit more on where it all went wrong (I’m kidding, K?) and update on a separate post a little later. —
