European stocks ending the day with gains

Germany closed today, but other indices end in the blackThe German stock market is closed today, but the other European equities are ending the day with gains:

  • France’s CAC up 0.3%
  • UK FTSE 100 up 0.2%
  • Spain’s Ibex up 0.3%
  • Italy’s FTSE MIB up 0.1%
  • Portugal’s PSI20 up 0.62%

In the 10 year debt market:

  • Germany 0.363%, unchanged (although stocks are closed, German debt is trading
  • France 0.755%, down -0.8 basis points
  • UK 1.332%, unchanged
  • Spain 1.459%, down -3.7 basis points
  • Italy 1.826%, down -2.2 basis points
  • Portugal 2.072%, down -2.3 basis points
  • Greece 5.474%, down -8.1 basis points

In other markets the snap shot near the London European close is showing:

  • Spot gold down $6.57 or -0.52% to $1269.77
  • WTI crude oil futures up six cents or +0.11% to $54.21. The high reach $54.28 while below extended to $53.93
  • US treasury yields are a bit higher: two-year 1.587%, up 1.4 basis points. Five-year 2.008%, up 1.3 basis points. 10 year 2.3739%, up 0.5 basis points. Thirty-year 2.875%, down -0.4 basis points
  • US stock indices are higher:  S&P index up 3.76 points or 0.15%.  NASDAQ index up 25.787 points or +0.38%.  Dow industrial average up 24.24 points or 0.11%

A snapshot of the strongest and weakest currencies shows that the GBP is the strongest, while the NZD is the weakest.
