Durable goods orders to drop before Jackson Hole

July durable goods orders up next

Durable goods orders are expected to take a tumble in July as aircraft and defense orders retrench. The final June report showed a 6.4% rise and that’s expected to turn into a 6.0% fall in today’s data.

The market will look to filter out the lumpy orders by focusing on capital goods orders nondefense ex-air, which are forecast to rise 0.4% after a flat reading in June.
