Brazil to seek exemption from US trade tariffs, says acting trade minister

Acting trade minister Marcos Jorge spoke with ReutersJorge says that «we will work to exclude Brazil from this measure (in reference to tariffs imposed)» while also saying that they won’t rule out any potential responses to the US in order to protect national interest.

Brazil is one of the US’ top steel suppliers, exporting $3 billion worth of iron ore-based products to the US last year.
Jorge also adds that he expects Brazil to easily join Canada and Mexico, who are currently exempt from the tariffs for an indefinite period as the two nations are working out the NAFTA deal with the US.
Brazilian authorities also made some comments on the matter here earlier in the day, in case you missed it.
